1. SnowL: Ring of Power
A gesture-controlled mouse sounds tempting, and in the shape of a ring, it looks unusual. The gadget, created by a startup from South Korea, is worn on the finger and connects to controlled devices via Bluetooth. SnowL supports three formats of motion tracking: in joystick, touchpad and gesture-controlled mouse mode. For the first use case, the gadget is installed in a small docking station that also serves as a charger.
SnowL operates at a distance of up to 20 meters and is compatible with smartphones, laptops, tablets and other devices. It can be used to give presentations, turn on smart TVs and play games on a smartphone by controlling gestures at a distance.
2. C-PEN ExamReader: a student's dream
Even in this age of information technology, not all information can be found online. This makes it necessary to go to libraries and flip through seemingly hopelessly outdated paper data carriers. And they still need to be digitized. The task is solved by portable scanners, such as the ExamReader pen by C-PEN. This compact, comfortable in the hand gadget makes life much more comfortable. There is no need to manually type in bank account numbers, enter instructions in a foreign language for translation, ask for books for a while to make photocopies, which then still need to be converted from PDF to DOC format. Just swipe the device across the page and the text is immediately displayed on the screen of a tablet, smartphone or laptop.
3. Beelink GT-R Pro: a computer in a box format
With the advent of new generations of processors, minicomputers have become increasingly popular. They are very compact and occupy little space, but unlike a laptop, they are not "tied" to a single monitor. The new Beelink GT-R Pro despite its small size can boast a rather powerful stuffing. The set-top box copes well with work in office applications and is ideal for creating a multimedia center. Beelink GT-R Pro can simultaneously connect four monitors at once, and a special Hi-Fi audio module generates quite a high quality sound. There is a port for connecting a smartphone, and to protect secure access to the case integrated fingerprint scanner.
4. Tech Tats: smart tattoo
The fashion for tattoos can be criticized, but the fact is that this phenomenon is popular. Specialists of the American studio Chaotic Moon decided to bring it to a new level, combining aesthetics and practicality. The technology they developed turns the tattoo into a biometric sensor that tracks the physical state of a person. The drawing is applied with two types of paint: ordinary and special, conductive electricity. Ultra-thin microchips, power cells and other components of the sensor are glued on the lines of the image. Electrically conductive paint acts as wires, connecting all the elements of the microchip.
The electronic tattoo is positioned as a more advanced alternative to fitness trackers. But the potential for use is wider - sensors can be used to track the location of the wearer or used as an element of payment systems. That said, the smart tattoo doesn't stay on the skin forever. It will last about a year, and then it must be renewed, otherwise the paint will peel off, and the chips will become unusable.
Interesting fact from Novate.ru: American studio Chaotic Moon specializes in creative technologies. For example, among the company's developments is a smart cart that monitors the user's movement through the store. The device tells you where your favorite products are and gives useful recommendations on the choice of goods, using a voice interface.
5. Skwitch: feel like a musician
Many people would like to try their hand at creating a melody. Even those who don't know how to do it at all and have no plans to study music. This opportunity was provided by the Scottish startup Skoogmusic, which created the Skwitch device. It looks very simple, if not primitive: a box with one big button. But looks are deceiving, the gadget works with a smartphone and allows you to create quite advanced melodies. You don't need to understand the theory and technique of playing different instruments. The invented melody is simply played by pressing a button, everything else will be done by the mobile application.
